Taken in the Galapagos Islands, this is one of the numerous pelican shots that I took and is presented here almost as line art, quite different from what I visualized at the time. The original shot on colour negative film, when scanned into the computer, really lacked much by way of colour saturation and so I decided to go with black and white. In addition, the image lacked fine detail and so I decided to accept that and push the contrast further to the point where the image became “almost line art”. Finally, I finished it off by adding a brown toning.
