Like just about everyone else, I enjoy a good sunset, mother nature’s nightly light show. What’s not to like? Predictable scheduling, free admission, pick your own vantage point, and no two performances are exactly the same. But for all that, there is something to be said for looking east at sunset, in other words, turning your back on the main show. My vantage point on this occasion was Maui’s Ka’anapali Beach, and whilst the sunset on this day was reasonable, I always make a point of looking over my shoulder to see what’s happening in the eastern sky as well.
On this occasion the full moon was rising with some clouds, coloured nicely by the setting sun, drifting by. The combination of deepening blue sky, contrasted by pink clouds, and of course the moon, made for today’s photograph.
