Overlooking Plymouth Sound in Devon, the Plymouth Naval Memorial commemorates more than 7,200 naval personnel of the First World War and nearly 16,000 of the Second World War who were lost or buried at sea.
At the time of my visit, the memorial was adorned with a mass of red ceramic poppies, check out the BBC report; Poppies make waves for more.
Both images were captured at 24mm focal length with the subject directly backlit. The first image, in particular, took careful processing to recover detail and colour in the under-exposed foreground. ~KD.
