Glossy Starling, Okavango Delta, Botswana

The glossy starling is a very common sight in the Okavango Delta region of Botswana. Its iridescent colours seem to change dependant on the light angle.

A common sight in the Okavango Delta region of Botswana,  Vervet Monkeys could be seen both in the trees and also feeding on the ground.

Our guide had observed some lion tracks near the water’s edge and from this, and the puddles of water on the bank deduced that the lions had crossed through the water only a few minutes before us.

Botswana and a pair of cheetahs are on patrol,  walking slowly through the grass stopping whenever they get to a tree or shrub to scent mark it.

an image can work without showing the wildlife but by showing evidence of its presence. Here the elephant tracks can be seen entering the water and exiting the water on the far side of the watercourse. No elephants in the shot, but evidence of their presence.

African fish eagle

Late afternoon and an African Fishing Eagle is perched on a branch overlooking the waters of the Okavango Delta.
